I recently attended an online ad workshop where the benefits of online advertising to businesses and how your website navigation we described as vital for encouraging people to buy your product or service. Kick start your paid online advertising now!

To channel Margaret Fuller ( Journalist, Critic and Women’s Rights Activist) with one of her famous quotes “If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it” , I’ll start by sharing with you some tips to improving website navigation and overall appeal to your potential customers.

So, you have a website and you think it’s perfect. Of course you do, you created it! However, do you know what your customers think? Can they navigate from page to page easily? Do these visitors often convert to a sale?

If your answer is no to any of the above questions, here are some tips to get improving your website:

• Ensure your ‘Home’ page tells your visitor exactly why you are here and the products and/or services you offer

• Include internal link buttons to every page to give your customer a ‘journey’ to follow through your website

• The most important button is the button to ‘apply now’ or purchase an item button to allow them the option to go to your sales page at any point during their journey

• Use clashing colours on website pages to enable key bits of information to stand out to your visitors which will in turn create more leads.

So, now you have improved the look and navigation of your website it’s time to kick start your advertising journey with PPC (Pay Per Click)!

We all know there are many ways for businesses advertise. Social media being a key player for SME’s due to no or very little cost. Having said this, PPC can be worth the investment and be cost effective and no matter what your budget you can advertise your business using PPC.

For small businesses it is deemed ‘difficult to compete’ with the top players in your industry due to the ‘expensive’ perception for PPC advertising.

Of course, the top advertising spot is always going to be taken by the ‘big players’ in your industry because they are willing to spend a vast amount of money to be there.

I’ll let you into a little secret though… the second and third advertising spots have the same ability to create the conversions you’re longing for and they cost a lot less. BONUS!
