Business community invited to BCRS Business Loans Christmas lunch

Community lending specialist BCRS Business Loans is inviting representatives from the West Midlands business community to its popular Christmas diners club lunch next month.

The Worcestershire Diners Club (WDC) networking lunch will take place at Worcester Racecourse in Grand Stand Road on Thursday November 28, from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Guests are invited to get into the festive spirit by wearing Christmas jumpers.

As well as opportunities to network with business colleagues from across the region, the event will include a two-course lunch and the chance for teams to compete in a Christmas-themed quiz.

Community Development Finance Institution, BCRS Business Loans works with SMEs unable to access finance from traditional sources, to enable them to secure loans from between £10,000 and £250,000 to help grow and support recovery plans.

BCRS Business Development Manager Angie Preece, who covers the Worcester region, will host the event.

A social impact report from BCRS for the most recent 2023-24 financial year showed that BCRS Business Loans lent £5.8m to 72 businesses, safeguarding 675 jobs and creating 186 roles while adding £29.9m in value to the economy of the West Midlands, surrounding region and Wales. Manufacturing businesses borrowed the largest amount by sector, totalling £1m.

Of the funding, 43 per cent went to the UK’s top 35 per cent most disadvantaged areas, with 18 per cent going to female-led businesses and 18 per cent to ethnic minority-led firms.

BCRS Business Loans has recently been named as a finalist for a prestigious award organised by a national association of finance brokers. The Wolverhampton-based firm is in the running for the Community Lender of the Year award at the 2024 Commercial Lender Awards, organised by the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB).

BCRS’s most recent dining club event, which took place at the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, saw more than 80 business guests from across the West Midlands enjoy an afternoon of dining, networking and expert insights.

The event, held on September 19, included a presentation from HSBC’s UK economist Emma Wilks, who updated delegates on the UK and global economic outlook.
